The thyroid is a small butterfly shaped gland located just below the Adams apple. It’s hard to believe that this tiny glad has such a huge impact on our health. Dr. Daemon Jones suggests adding protein into your diet is instrumental in moving the hormones thyroid secretes throughout your body.

She also states that “Since one of the underlying causes [of thyroid dysfunction] is autoimmunity, food sensitivities could be playing a role. Having a specialized food allergy panel identifies foods that should be removed from your diet. Some common food allergies include gluten, soy or dairy.”

Exercise

He also expresses how exercise is important for keeping a healthy weight since hypothyroidism can affect the metabolism as well as weight gain.

Depression is an often side effect when one has an unhealthy thyroid. It is hard to determine whether the depression starts with the thyroid or it was already there, but they are certain there is a link. If you’re suffering from depression it is important to get your thyroid checked out and possibly look into talk therapy. Unwanted weight gain, hair loss, and fatigue are all symptoms of an unhealthy thyroid, which may all cause depression and or anxiety.
