Acne can be an embarrassing skin issue. Many people who struggle with acne and other skin conditions are always looking for ways to improve there skin.

Plant based foods contain healthy minerals and vitamins that help prevent acne without spending a pretty penny. Many acne medicine are filled with harmful toxins and may cause serious health issues. Choosing plant based foods for healthy skin will not only help improve your skin but also your body. A plant based diet including plenty of fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, etc. is a great start in helping prevent and reducing existing acne as well as making the body healthier. Foods rich in Selenium

Selenium is an important dietary mineral. Selenium works as an anti inflammatory, it helps skin maintain elasticity and repairs damaged cells. It is believed to help many known skin issues. Plant based foods especially high in selenium. Some of which include Brazil nuts, whole grains and garlic.

Foods Rich in Omega-3

There are numerous reasons to get more Omega-3 fatty acids. One of them being acne prevention. Omega-3 fatty acids prevent acne by reducing inflammation and may reduce risk of acne and other types of skin problems. Foods that contain high amounts of Omega 3's are leafy greens, seeds and beans.

Foods Rich in Vitamin A

Foods that contain a lot of vitamin A also know at retiniods help selenium do it's job. Vitamin A shreds off dead skin cells that ultimately cause acne build up. The antioxidants in vitamin A act as inflammatory properties help reduce acne breakouts. Vitamin A can be found in foods like carrots, greens and sweet potatoes.

Foods rich in Zinc

Zinc is a natural mineral that helps the body absorb vitamin A, which is important in skin care. Studies have shown that people who have a zinc deficiency suffer more with acne. Food such as legumes, nuts, seeds, beans peas are high in zinc.
